We offer technical diving courses through TDI and PADI TecRec. All of our technical diving courses are taught with the same philosophy.
We teach with the DIR (Do It Right) philosophy in mind. However, we believe that there is often more than 1 way of doing things correctly. We use a minimalistic approach when it comes to equipment configuration. For example, we recommend a one piece harness over a harness with a quick release and carry all of our deco tanks on our left side. All of the reasons why will be covered during your technical training with us.
When you take a technical diving course with us you can expect to be taught to a very high standard. During entry level technical courses we spend a lot of time in the water building a solid foundation. We spend a lot of time mastering good buoyancy control, good trim and propulsion before moving on to other skills. It’s easier to learn new and more complex skills when you are comfortable holding a good trim position with good buoyancy control. Some of our technical courses may take longer than typical course durations at other diving centers but everyone learns in different ways at different speeds. We do not rush students through a technical course and we spend time making sure they have mastered and understand each aspect. It’s very important to us that when we certify a student, we are confident that they are at a good level and ready to go and do the dives at the level we are certifying them independently of an instructor. Certification fees are not included in any course price with Dynamic Diving as certification is not guaranteed. You really earn your technical certifications when taking courses with us.
If your course requires the use of a manual and/or other materials then you will get these before or at the start of your course and they are included in your course price. We are also happy to recommend other useful books and publications for you to read prior to your technical diving courses with us.
As mentioned before, certification is not included in any course price because at Dynamic Diving we strongly believe that a technical diving certification is earned and is not guaranteed. You are actually paying for the training. If you are successful with your course and meet all performance requirements then you will be asked to pay the certification fee.
If for some reason you don’t meet all the performance requirements for your course or you are not quite at the level we require in the approximate course durations then we are happy to add extra days training at a discounted rate.
If your course requires classroom sessions or confined water dives then on these days you will be based in the diving centre. During entry level technical courses we add extra shallow dives at the beginning of your course to work on good buoyancy control, good trim and propulsion as well as other skills. We make sure that skills are at a very good level and you are comfortable before progressing into deeper dives. The open water technical dives required for your course are conducted from the boat usually with 1 or 2 dives per day. The schedule for these days is the same as for Daily Technical Diving. Lunch and drinks are included during all days.
Technical diving equipment (Backplate + harness, wing, back gas regulator set, deco regulator) rental is included in entry level technical courses (TDI Intro to Tech, TDI Advanced Nitrox, TDI Decompression Procedures and PADI TecRec Tec 40) but is not included in other courses. Technical diving students are expected to have their own smaller personal equipment like a primary mask, back up mask and wrist slate etc or are expected to purchase these during the course. We are happy to give recommendations. Every technical student is expected to have 2 independent ways to monitor depth, dive time and decompression schedules during all courses.
Before all technical courses, you will be required to fill in a medical statement. For TDI courses you need to be able to answer NO honestly to all of the questions to declare yourself medically fit to dive. Should you answer YES to any of the questions you would need approval from a doctor before diving. For PADI TecRec courses you will need a doctor’s signature to declare you are fit to dive before any course. Please find a link to the medical statement here. If you need a doctor’s approval it’s a good idea to get this in advance of your course.
